10 Reasons Why You Should Book a Photoshoot for Yourself
I know, I know, I know… you’re busy. You’ve got kids, a family, responsibilities, you want to lose some weight, change your hair, the list goes on an on… Believe me, I’ve hear you. I talk to women every day who are interested in doing a photoshoot, but keep are putting it off for one reason or another. I’m here to give you 10 reasons on why you should just go ahead and book that shoot. Let’s go!
1. You are beautiful and perfect now, just as you are, and deserve to see yourself as such. Your loved ones do not care about the perceived “flaws” that you give as excuses not be photographed. They see you. And you are beautiful and perfect to them. Now.
2. You should have a beautiful portrait of yourself that you love. It’s my job as the photographer to guide you through posing and give direction throughout your photo shoot. Just about everyone feels awkward in front of the camera without any direction. Rest assured, I will not leave you hanging!
3. There is power in portraits. Seeing your beauty reflected back to you is moving. Seeing yourself how your loved ones see you is powerful. As a woman, chances are you’re hard on yourself. Like really hard, maybe borderline mean to yourself sometimes. Seeing and holding your gorgeous portraits is a way to reconnect with your self; to remember your beautiful essence.
4. Every person, at every age is beautiful. Period. Growing older should be a celebration. I believe we should celebrate our lives through portraits at every stage and every age. Can you imagine the legacy you would be able to gift to your loved ones if you documented your entire life with beautiful portraits?
5. You must exist in photographs. Your children will go looking for you one day. And your portraits and photographs of you will be priceless to them. If you do not make the effort to get in the frame now, what will they find?
6. No wardrobe, no problem! I’m obsessed with gorgeous gowns, dresses, shiny accessories and pretty ribbons and lace. I can’t even begin to guess how many yards of tulle and fabric I have in my collection, and I cannot pass up buying a dress if it’d be perfect for a photo shoot. So, I have a lot of items in the studio wardrobe. I have all sizes and something for everyone, and if we can’t find exactly what you’re looking for, we can design it and make it! I love sewing and all things costume design!
7. It’s a great way to celebrate relationships!
As a mom, chances are your needs and wants come last. We tend to buy nice things for our kiddos or splurge on something for the family, but might be more prudent when it comes to lavishing yourself with luxuries. A photoshoot’s a fabulous way to pamper yourself and celebrate those you love. Bring your Mom, your sister, your best friend, and have a day of fun! I also love bringing in kiddos or the whole family to the end of sessions. That way you get a day of pampering as well as updated family portraits!
8. You can try out any style you want. I love, love, love doing vintage photo shoots! If you just love that Old Hollywood look, I’ve got you covered! Wonder what it would be like to be a pin up for a day, we can do that! Want to release your inner bombshell with a boudoir shoot? No problem! Love cosplay, I love those kind of shoots! A photo shoot is the perfect way to go all out and try on any look you want.
9. It is so much fun! Really, I mean, who doesn’t like to play dress up and feel like a star for the day? I work with some amazing stylists who provide professional hair and makeup up for your shoot, plus we go over wardrobe styling and plan everything out beforehand, so that all you have to do is show up and have fun!
10. Why not? You deserve to be pampered, to feel beautiful, and to have fun! There is no better time than now. Do not wait to do something fun for yourself. It’s an experience that will stay with you long after the makeup comes off and the clothes are changed. You’ll have beautiful portraits that will serve as a reminder to how you felt at that moment of your life. A priceless treasure for your loved ones in the years to come.
