Why Boudoir?

Curious about what a boudoir photoshoot really is or what it’s all about?

Ever thought about booking a boudoir photoshoot of your own, then talked yourself out of it?

First of all, a boudoir photoshoot with Erin Valkner Photography is not this intimidating overwhelming thing… These photoshoots are so much fun and there’s a lot more laughing than seriousness!

My goal is always to create a space where you can just be, without having to live up to some crazy expectation of what you think you “should” be.

Everything about your session will be custom tailored for you.  We’ll plan out your outfits and sets based on what styles and looks you like.

A Boudoir shoot in my studio is all about highlighting your innate beauty, as you are.  Sometimes it’s hard to see it ourselves, and a boudoir session will help draw it out and reflect it back to you.

By having this space where there’s no judgement, no expectations, no rules on what’s beautiful, your essence, which is beautiful, will be allowed to shine through.

Whatever has happened before today has brought you to who you are now.  When we can sit with ourselves we can own our story and there’s nothing more powerful or beautiful than this.

And that is what we capture.  You, who you are in this moment.  And that is what makes a beautiful portrait.  Because who you are is beautiful.

A boudoir session connects you to your beauty.   Even more so than a regular portrait session, because it’s more vulnerable, less covered, less hidden.

And let me tell you something, that is more powerful than you think.

That is confidence.  That is empowering.

And you take that with you well beyond your photoshoot, into your everyday life.

So yes, boudoir does mean beautiful portraits that you’ll have to look back on years from now.

But it’s also so much more than that.  There’s power in portraits.  We are changed from the experience.

Why boudoir?

Because every woman deserves to be connected to herself, to see her beauty and feel the power of owning her strength, her story.

Instead of saying, “maybe one day”, let’s have a conversation.  I’m here to answer any questions at all, to listen to any of your fears or hesitations; I’m here even if you’re still not quite ready.  Let’s talk.
