See Yourself Differently

Something that's been coming up over and over for me recently, is the idea of facing yourself.

So this concept of facing yourself means being honest with yourself, actually feeling your feelings, and not avoiding issues as they come up.

Whew. Sounds easy enough, but man, it is HARD sometimes. But I'm learning to not be so hard on myself. Learning to see myself in a more forgiving light.

One of the reasons I love photography so much is that it allows people to see themselves differently than the idea of themselves they have in their head. You know, the version of yourself that you constantly bash for not being good enough...

Taking someone's portrait involves more than just pushing a shutter button. For me, taking someone's portrait means really seeing them. I have found that allowing someone to just be, results in the most beautiful portraits.

A simple connection with another person, with no judgement or expectation, that is what makes a beautiful portrait. Every single time.

When was the last time you saw yourself as beautiful? When was the last time you were allowed to just be. With no pressure to be or do any certain thing? If the answer is anything other than, “Well right now and always of course!”, then we should chat! I’d love to help you see yourself differently.
