Do You Have a Portrait of Your Mom?

I found this article the other day and couldn’t agree more with the author’s plea to exist in photographs!  http://www.scarymommy.com/take-photo-your-mom/

She asks the reader to think about their favorite photo of their mother.  I have a few of my mom from the time before she was a mom.  I love these so much because they give me a glimpse of who she was before becoming a mother.  A glimpse of this beautiful woman before the chaos of life with small children.  I have a ton of photos of my childhood and plenty include my mom, but the ones of her “pre-kids” & by herself are super special because the focus is only on her, as she was in that moment – beautiful & perfect.

I have to give all the credit here to my dad.  He was a photographer and I owe him big time for making sure my mom existed in photographs (and for instilling in me a love for photography, but that’s a story for another day).  They didn’t stay together and life wasn’t easy for either of them, but I’ll always be grateful for what they’ve given me.

I can’t imagine not having these portraits of my beautiful mama, and it’s my hope that you have at least one of your mama too.

I know I’m always going on about this, but please make sure you exist in photographs for your children and loved ones!  I promise you they will cherish it forever and always.
